There are so many cat breeds. How can you decide which breed is right for you and your family? Follow this handy guide to select the perfect cat breed.
The first thing you should consider is whether you will be able to handle having a vocal cat. Some cat breeds can actually be quite noisy. While many cat owners do not have a problem with these vocal breeds, as they realize their cats are just communicating with them, a loud cat can be a problem in an apartment situation. Breeds that are very vocal are the Siamese Cat, the Korat, and the Burmese. The Scottish Fold, Somali, and the American Curl are considered to be very quiet cat breeds. |

Today at work one of the pet groomers came to me and said she had a small kitten that needed a home, would I like to see her?
I was on lunch break, so I asked her to bring the kitten (who was kenneled in our grooming salon). Everyone at work knows I have cats. OK, read "sucker for hard luck cases" :-) But where did you get her and why can't you keep her...? Questions and more questions. |

An Australian cat may have saved its own life by ingesting a mix of drugs that no normal human would have tried.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, an 8-month-old Himalayan showed up at a vet with a racing heartbeat and other signs of nervous distress. The owner's wife admitted it could have licked from "plates of cocaine" they had put out for their dinner guests. |

“Birds, Mice, and Apple Pie” A Tasteful Read
For Cat Lovers
RESCUE, CA – February 1 – Animal expert Susan Fiedler introduces readers to life from a cat’s perspective in her newly-released “Birds, Mice, and Apple Pie” (ISBN 0-9778580-1-4), a non-fiction paperback published by Spotted Cat Designs.
Fiedler tells her tale from the viewpoint of a third-generation feral kitten adopted by a family of humans. Six cats from different backgrounds tell their stories to the young kitten with a mix of matter-of-fact compassion and humor. Through these stories, readers are given a cat’s-eye view of feline life, shelters, catteries, birth, dying with dignity, and human cruelty and kindness. As Fiedler puts it, “Those creatures who dare to share their lives and love with us deserve our respect, compassion and love in return.”
Fiedler draws from almost 40 years of experience taking care of animals and pours her love for them into this timeless book.Without heavy-handed moralizing, “Birds, Mice, and Apple Pie” provides a heartwarming glimpse into the lives of abandoned and unwanted cats. And in the tradition of books such as May Sarton’s “The Fur Person,” Susan Fiedler’s cats come to life in a unique way that will appeal to readers of all ages.
Readers can also visit the companion web site to “Birds, Mice, and Apple Pie” at www.SpottedCatDesigns.com where they can read articles on cat care, browse the latest cat news, and ask questions about interacting with their own cats. “Birds, Mice, and Apple Pie” is now available from major booksellers including Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com.
